Remembering Zac
People ask us a lot how Zac is doing and it seems they don’t understand
the seriousness of his condition. Zac continues to be unable to breathe on
his own. A mechanical ventilator breathes for him, except for an
occasional breath he initiates. He is fed through a feeding tube in his
stomach. He opens his eyes sometimes but does not blink or have
purposeful eye movement. He reacts to painful stimulus, but does not move
his arms or his legs otherwise. Every organ in his body has been affected
at one time since he has been sick. His blood pressure has been rather
low recently. His kidneys aren’t functioning as well as we would like. We
are very thankful that Zac’s skin continues to be in good shape. He had a
physical therapy evaluation Saturday and the therapist was amazed at the
good muscle tone and range of motion in his arms and legs.

The Doctor’s aren’t hopeful that Zac can recover and they don’t believe he
is aware of things around him. However, we know that he hears us when we
talk to him and he lets us know by blinking or setting off the ventilator
alarm or by some slight movement.

Please continue to pray for Zac’s complete healing. The task sounds great
but God is greater!

We also want to make you aware of the ZAC PROJECT that is taking place
behind the home of Jane & John (his parents). Since the closest facility
equipped to take ventilator dependent patients is in Illinois our family
has decided to bring Zac home to live. When word of this decision got out
calls came pouring in from skilled volunteers who wanted to help with the
construction of the separate building. To date, the site has been “prayed
over & dedicated”, staked, footings poured, then plumbing roughed in and
the slab poured. Wonderful Christian carpenters have worked and prayed
for five days. They have called friends and associates and together
materials and workers just seem to appear. Praise God for our Family of
Believers! We truly believe that the building will be ready for Zac when
the rehab time at Kindred is over. Pray for us as we learn the things we
will need to know to properly care for Zac at home. If God would
miraculously help him, well, that would be alright, too!

Pictures of the progress will soon follow. Special thanks to Ryan who has
made this website available so we can communicate with you, dear friends
and also be encouraged by the messages you send. God bless you all!!
I'll praise you in this storm!

Our family knows that this is just a storm that will pass. We are still praising our God and giving him all of the credit for what he has done in Zac already!  We never dreamed when starting this website that so many would be checking it and that this "storm" would last this long.  Thank you ALL for your thoughts, prayers and love.

Since God promises us trials, and he promises to help us in and through our trials, what are they for? Why does God allow any evil? We do not fully know, but we know that God does allow evil, and Jesus himself was willing to endure it, and he is still enduring it patiently. The Scriptures tell us about a few benefits of trials:

"Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Rom. 5:3-4). "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it" (Heb. 12:11).

"You may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed" (1 Pet. 1:6-7).

In short, we learn things from suffering that we cannot learn from studying our Bibles. Suffering shapes our character in a way that words cannot fully describe. Even Jesus learned from his sufferings, and we are also called to take up a cross and suffer with him.

Thank you, Lord, for these trials that we are facing. Though we do not fully understand them we know you are shaping us into the men and women you desire us to be.

Verse of the Day
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

Exodus 15:26 reads, I the Lord am thy physician. The medicine He prescribes is His Word.

Many make the mistake of substituting belief in healing for the actual taking of God’s medicine – His Word. They say, “I believe in healing” without actually taking the medicine. What good would it do for you to believe in food if you didn’t eat it? You would starve. What good would it do for you to believe in water if you didn’t actually drink any? You would die of thirst.
God’s Word is His medicine. There are several parallels between God’s medicine and natural medicine
